HB06571: AN ACT ESTABLISHING A MEDICAL SCHOLARSHIP AND RETURN SERVICE PROGRAM FOR DESERVING STUDENTS AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR
This bill establishes a Medical Scholarship and Return Service Program to address the shortage of medical practitioners in the Philippines. The program provides scholarships for deserving medical students in state universities and colleges (SUCs) or private higher education institutions (PHEIs). In return, scholars are required to serve in government public health offices or hospitals in their hometown or underserved municipalities after graduation and passing the licensure examination.
The Medical Scholarship and Return Service Program aims to ensure the availability of doctors in underserved communities, particularly in remote and economically underdeveloped areas. This provision will help improve access to quality healthcare services for all Filipinos, especially those in far-flung and disadvantaged areas.
