HB10647: AN ACT GRANTING ADDITIONAL BENEFITS TO FILIPINO CENTENARIANS, RECOGNIZING OCTOGENARIANS AND NONAGENARIANS, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR, AMENDING FOR THE PURPOSE REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10868, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE "CENTENARIANS ACT OF 2016

This bill significantly expands benefits for elderly Filipinos, extending recognition and financial gifts beyond centenarians to include octogenarians (80-89 years old) and nonagenarians (90-99 years old). Under this proposed act, all Filipinos reaching 80, 85, 90, and 95 years old will receive a letter of felicitation from the President and a cash gift of P25,000. This broadened scope acknowledges and honors a larger segment of the senior population, recognizing their longevity and contributions.

Additionally, the bill proposes a substantial increase in the cash gift for centenarians, with those reaching 101 years old receiving P1,000,000, a significant jump from the existing P100,000. The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) will be the lead agency for implementing this act, with funding included in the annual General Appropriations Act. These enhanced benefits aim to improve the quality of life for a wider range of elderly Filipinos and demonstrate greater societal appreciation for their advanced age.
