HB04279: FOOD FOREST GARDENING ACT

This bill seeks to promote and institutionalize Food Forest Gardening as a sustainable land-use system in the Philippines to address food production limitations and minimize farming costs. It proposes the creation of the Philippine Food Forest Gardening Commission (PFFGC) under the Department of Agriculture, and the Philippine Center for Food Forest Gardening (PCFFG) to provide information, training, and expertise.

The significance of this bill lies in its potential to enhance food security, regenerate ecosystem functions, and maximize land use by encouraging low-maintenance food production through agroforestry, crop rotation, and companion planting. It aims to transform farmers into multi-crop agripreneurs, utilize idle lands, inspire youth towards sustainable agriculture, and build productive farming communities, ultimately benefiting both urban and rural populations.
