HB04093: AN ACT ESTABLISHING A FREE ANNUAL MEDICAL CHECK UP FOR FILIPINOS
This bill aims to establish a free annual medical check-up for all Filipinos, aligning with the State's duty to protect and promote the right to health and instill health consciousness. Under this act, every Filipino citizen, as a member of PhilHealth under the Universal Health Care Law, would be entitled to a free annual medical check-up in any government hospital and institution. The check-up would include basic diagnostic and laboratory tests such as complete blood count, urinalysis, stool analysis, chest X-ray, and a complete physical exam.
The significance of this bill is profound for public health, as it emphasizes preventive medicine to detect common diseases (like heart diseases, various cancers, and diabetes) that are often easily identifiable through regular check-ups. By providing free access to these essential health services, the bill aims to improve the overall health and wellness of the Filipino population, reduce health-related financial burdens, and promote health literacy, ultimately contributing to a healthier and more productive citizenry.
