HR00570: A RESOLUTION BONUAN BOQUIG NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL FOR WINNING THE 2022 T4 EDUCATION WORLD´S BEST SCHOOL PRIZE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL ACTION FOR ILOG KO, AROEN KO: MANGROVE PLANTING PROJECT
House Resolution No. 570 extends profound congratulations to Bonuan Boquig National High School of Dagupan, Pangasinan, for winning the 2022 T4 Education World's Best School Prize for Environmental Action for their project "Ilog Ko, Aroen Ko: Mangrove Planting Project". This project began as a classroom initiative in response to the damage caused by Typhoon Pepeng in 2009, aiming to replace lost mangroves, rehabilitate the Longos River, provide habitats for fish, and enhance the river's aesthetic value. Since its inception, the school and its partners have grown over 10,000 mangroves by 2016, with planting activities continuing monthly even amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
This resolution recognizes Bonuan Boquig National High School as a prime example of inclusive, resilient, and holistic education, serving as a model for environmental protection worldwide. The award underscores the significant contribution schools, students, and teachers make to environmental advocacy and changemaking.
