HB05643: AN ACT DECLARING THE CAGAYAN DE ORO RIVER AND ITS IMMEDIATE ENVIRONS LOCATED IN CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, PROVINCE OF MISAMIS ORIENTAL A CULTURAL HERITAGE ZONE
This bill declares the Cagayan de Oro River and its immediate environs in Cagayan de Oro City, Province of Misamis Oriental, as a cultural heritage zone. The significance of this declaration is to uphold the State's policy of administering its heritage and natural resources in a spirit of stewardship for present and future generations, specifically by conserving the natural diversity and integrity of the Cagayan de Oro River and its sites of historical and cultural importance. The bill also prohibits any activities that pollute, destroy, or adversely affect the archaeological, historical, cultural, ecological, and economic values of the river and its environs, and mandates the Department of Tourism (DOT) and other agencies to prepare a development plan for its conservation, preservation, and protection from environmental threats.
