This resolution congratulates and commends Architects Sudarshan V. Khadka Jr. and Alexander Eriksson Furunes, alongside the Gawad Kalinga (GK) Enchanted Farm Community, for receiving the Special Mention as National Participation award at the 17th La Biennale di Venezia International Architecture Exhibition. Their exhibition, "Structures of Mutual Support," was lauded for its exemplary community project that fostered collaborative construction practices, demonstrating the Filipino tradition of "Bayanihan" and inspiring communities to thrive amidst adversity. This recognition at such a prestigious cultural institution, where the Philippines returned after a 51-year hiatus through the initiative of then-Senator Loren Legarda, significantly elevates the country's standing in the international architectural community.
The exhibition, curated by the Framework Collaborative (comprising the GK Enchanted Farm Community and Architects Khadka and Furunes), explored how mutual support can shape architecture through inclusivity and direct community involvement in defining its inherent values. By earning this award, the curators are recognized for bringing immense pride and honor to the Filipino people, showcasing a moving display of community, empathy, and solidarity, and serving as an inspiration for collective building and resilience in the face of challenges.
