HB02458: AN ACT ESTABLISHING THE AGRI SCHOLARSHIP FOR AGRIBUSINESS ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND PROGRAMS IN THE AGRICULTURAL CURRICULA OF STATE UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
This bill aims to establish an Agri Scholarship Program to provide opportunities for poor but deserving high school and graduate students to pursue careers in agriculture.
The Philippines is largely an agricultural country, yet there is a decline in enrollment in agriculture courses due to perceived low employment opportunities. This bill aims to change that by providing scholarships and opportunities for students to engage in agribusiness ventures.
The program will enhance agricultural curricula to include entrepreneurship components and on-the-job training. It will also provide start-up capital for students to engage in supervised farming schemes.
By developing competency skills and knowledge of students in agricultural technologies and agribusiness, the program aims to increase food production, provide income to students, and contribute to poverty alleviation.
