This resolution expresses the profound condolences of the House of Representatives on the passing of Mr. Ben Farrales, widely recognized as the "Dean of Philippine Fashion". Farrales, who passed away at 88, was instrumental in putting Philippine fashion on the international map, notably by incorporating indigenous fabrics into mainstream fashion and making "malong" fashion and Muslim-inspired ternos known globally through over 200 fashion shows.

His significant contributions to the Philippine fashion industry were honored with the "Gawad CCP Para sa Sining," the highest award given by the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Beyond his designs, Farrales promoted Philippine arts and culture by mentoring young designers and co-founding the annual Flores de Mayo, which continues to showcase Filipino fashion talents. The resolution recognizes his enduring legacy in showcasing Filipino identity on the global stage, including being the first Filipino to mount a show at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., paving the way for future designers.
