Last September, we mark Philippine Creative Industries Month 2025 under the theme “We Are a Creative Nation,” affirming Filipino creativity as a pillar of culture, inclusive growth, and global competitiveness. Across the arts, design, media, crafts, film, music, and performance, Filipino creatives continue to shape the country’s future.
Established under Republic Act No. 11904, the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act which I principally authored, the observance designates September to promote creative goods, services, and talent as vital to nation-building. The law envisions a thriving, inclusive creative ecosystem where creativity is both cultural capital and economic strength.

In 2025, government, the private sector, and creative communities mounted dynamic nationwide activities. The Malikhaing Pinoy Expo 2025, led by the DTI and
the Philippine Creative Industries Development Council, served as a flagship showcase of innovation—from audiovisual media and design to gaming and cultural heritage. Regional celebrations highlighted the depth of local talent: Negros Occidental showcased crafts, digital arts, fashion, and food; Davao City strengthened creative ecosystems through summits and exchanges; and Pangasinan explored creative industries as drivers of livelihood and heritage preservation.

These efforts are matched by strong economic impact. In 2024, creative industries generated an estimated ₱1.94 trillion and 7.51 million jobs, contributing over 7% of GDP—a clear driver of recovery and long-term growth. I commend the whole-of-government collaboration behind this observance and urge sustained partnership with the private sector and civil society. By carrying this momentum beyond September, we can expand opportunities for creative workers, empower regions, and ensure Filipino creatives continue to lead in Asia and beyond.
