Edades & Bernal Cultural Center and Museum
Republic Act No. 11726 paved the way for the establishment of the Edades and Bernal Cultural Center and Museum in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, named in honor of two National Artists—Victorio Edades, National Artist for Painting & Father of Modern Philippine Painting, and Salvador Bernal, National Artist for Theater Design, both of whom hail from Dagupan City. This landmark legislation aims to create a dedicated cultural hub that will promote arts, culture, heritage preservation, and creative industries in the region. The cultural center is envisioned to host exhibitions, performances, and educational programs, serving as a vibrant space for artists, students, and cultural advocates to celebrate local and national artistry.
The project formally commenced with its groundbreaking ceremony held on November 15, 2024 in Dagupan City, marking a significant milestone in the province’s cultural development.
The realization of this cultural center was strongly championed by Congressman Christopher "Toff" De Venecia, Representative of Pangasinan’s 4th District, who authored and sponsored the bill that became Republic Act 11726. Known for his staunch advocacy for arts and culture, Congressman De Venecia worked closely with national and local agencies, local stakeholders, and the creative community to secure the necessary funding and legislative backing for the project. His leadership reflects his broader vision to make Pangasinan a center for creative industries and heritage tourism, and to provide lasting platforms for cultural enrichment. Through his efforts, the Edades & Bernal Cultural Center and Museum is set to become a landmark that will foster local pride, nurture artistic talents, and boost the region’s cultural and economic landscape.
