Congressman Christopher De Venecia has forged a dynamic and highly productive partnership with the National Live Events Coalition PH (NLEC PH), championing crucial policy initiatives to uplift the creative industries. Through the Arts and Culture and Creative Industries Bloc (ACCIB), the Congressman has engaged in fruitful discussions with NLEC PH and other stakeholders like the Philippine Fashion Coalition. These dialogues delve into the current state and challenges faced by these sectors, aiming to identify and introduce programs that provide tangible support. This collaborative approach underscores a shared commitment to fostering an environment where creative professionals can thrive, addressing their immediate concerns and laying the groundwork for future growth.

A testament to this impactful collaboration is the successful passage of House Bill No. 8817, the "Freelance Workers Protection Act," on its third and final reading in Congress. This landmark legislation, a key advocacy of NLEC PH for all live event workers, was spearheaded and robustly defended by Congressman De Venecia in the plenary. This bill, alongside other worker protections like the proposed "Eddie Garcia Act" (HB No. 7762) and Republic Act No. 11058 (Occupational Safety and Health Standards), signifies a dedicated effort to safeguard the welfare and rights of freelancers and self-employed individuals within the creative sector. The NLEC PH expresses immense gratitude for Congressman De Venecia's tremendous support since its inception, particularly highlighting his instrumental role in the newly created Special Committee on Creative Industry and Performing Arts, which he chairs. This ongoing partnership is actively shaping what our industry will be in the future by addressing the urgent demands of today.
